Robert Loren Beckenhauer was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on September 9, 1931. He received his Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Nebraska in 1955, at the age of 24, in the same year becoming a First Lieutenant in the United States Corps of Engineers. He served in the Corps for two years, in 1957 becoming the Staff Architect at the Leo A. Daly Company in Omaha. After 11 years as an architect, Beckenhauer became a Member of the AIA in 1966. He was married to Harriet and they had at least four children. He passed away on February 18, 2015.[2][4]
