DBA: Frances M. Wilkie; Mrs. Leslie Wilkie

Frances Mary Schepp Wilkie was born on May 27, 1904 in Manhattan, Kansas to cattle ranchers Anna and Albert Schepp. She was the first female architecture graduate of Kansas State University in 1928.[1][5] At that time, female architects were not allowed to go out into the field in survey class.[1][5] In 1929, she married fellow student and architect Leslie E. Wilkie in Tulsa, Oklahoma.[1][5] In that year, she began working as an architect in Omaha, designing over 6000 homes by 1978. Wilkie died on January 28, 1986.[5]
