Ralph O. Whitehead was born November 16, 1895 in Gainesville, Texas, but he grew up in Springfield, Missouri. He served in World War II, then married Hilda Dueland on December 21, 1922. Six years later, he started working for Cohagen Construction Company, which was located in North Platte. He did not stay at this job for long, however; in 1930, he started his own construction company, working in this capacity until his retirement in 1965. Whitehead was married to Hilda, with whom he shared four children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was the director of the First Federal Savings and Loan (in North Platte); he was also a member of P.R. Halligan Post No. 53 of the American Legion and the First United Methodist Church. Whitehead died December 18, 1983.[1][2][3][4]
