Joseph W. Hall was born in July, 1863 in Ohio.[4] He came to Mitchell in 1903 to start a homestead and began working as a builder.[1] Hall had arrived in Mitchell as a well-established architect with a good reputation for his interior work and finishing.[1] His first big job was finishing the Mitchell Mercantile.[1] Hall was married.[4]
