Deloro W. Line was born in Iowa in 1886 to Harry D. and Etta L. Line. His father was a farmer in Shelby, Iowa.[9] Deloro most often was referred to as "D. W." and his first name was variously recorded as "Deloss" or "Deloro," depending on if one cites the federal census of 1910 or 1920.[c] "Deloro" is authoritatively inscribed on his veteran's gravestone (as as a U. S. Army corporal in WWI).[8] Line worked mostly as a draftsman but briefly as an architect in Omaha.[2][3] In 1915 he participated in a meeting of "building contractors of Omaha...toward organizing a state association of contractors for mutual benefit."[5] Deloro died at age 91 in 1978.[8]
