William Bell was listed as carpenter in the U. S. Census for York, Nebraska in 1880. He was 47 years old, and was born in either New York or New Jersey.[1] He was not found in 1890 or 1900 federal census in Nebraska.

a. The York directory listings for 1886-1889 and 1893 record the name, “Thomas M. Bell,” rather than “W. A.” No Thomas Bell was found in the census for Nebraska, and, as William was, the two names are tentatively listed together here.
