Description = According to WCPM ledger, "worn by Willa C. for Hiawatha Recitation 1885"

This is the sheer cotton lace dress that Willa wore for her recitation of the poem The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. A satin sash at the waist and a pair of hand-knit striped socks added extra flair to the outfit. At the end of her performance, Willa dropped to one knee and shot an arrow into an imaginary forest.
