Hawley''' was born in England on January 3, 1842 to William and Hannah Hawley.[[#References|[2][3]]] He immigrated to Quebec in 1863 and worked in carpentry, then moved to New Jersey three years later.[[#References|[3]]] He lived awhile in Delaware before coming to Fremont in 1871.[[#References|[3]]] Hawley was a contractor involved in the building of several landmarks in the city.[[#References|[3]]] In 1880, Hawley became a farmer.[[#References|[3]]]

'''Hawley''' married Anna Leather in 1865, a union which yielded five children before Anna died in 1874.[[#References|[3]]] Three years after Anna's death, Hawley married Alma Thompson.[[#References|[2][3]]] They had seven children together.[[#References|[3]]] Hawley died January 13, 1906.[[#References|[3]]]
